The Killers - Mr Brightside

This video from The Killers does meet the conventions of a rock music video. For example, the colour red is used throughout the whole video, whether it being part of the set with red curtains, sofas and carpets or part of characters costumes. This is used as red can represent danger and darkness, which is something that is portrayed in most rock videos. The costumes within this video are again quite unusual and match the theme of a fairytale world in this video. Like most rock videos, there alot of close up camera shots used within it as it helps to show the emotions of the characters, as well as many long shots to help establish the setting and area around the characters. The Killers have also used the famous actor, Eric Roberts, in this video, this is a good way of promoting their video as fans of Roberts could be inticed to watch the video and purchase the single. Aswell, the band are involved in the video themselves, which again is a typical convention of a rock band's music video.
